This appeal is for a Yemeni father with over 20 years of experience in the petroleum and cooking gas industry, who previously operated a small cooking gas business in Uganda.
During and after COVID-19, many families shifted from cooking gas to cheaper alternatives such as firewood and charcoal due to financial hardship. At the same time, illegal and unsafe homemade gas refilling businesses spread within communities, creating unfair competition for legitimate small businesses.
Competing through unsafe and dishonest practices was not an option, as it goes against safety standards and Islamic principles.
Due to these ongoing challenges and losses, the decision was made to transition into free range poultry farming and small scale agriculture in Kwale County near Mombasa as a more stable and sustainable source of halal income through the sale of eggs, chicken and farm produce.
