Abdullah Salim, a 49 year old man from Mombasa, Kenya, recently suffered a severe diabetic foot complication. The condition escalated quickly, requiring immediate surgical intervention and what doctors described as a “severe surgical toilet” to remove dead tissue. Unfortunately, part of his foot was lost in the process.
He was transferred to Nairobi for more advanced care. His treatment now depends on a specialized series of procedures including VAC therapy (Vacuum-Assisted Closure) and expert wound and ulcer management, the only hope to save the rest of his foot and avoid full amputation.
